Mass restart for 25km relay
This applies to the two-person relay only. Relay runners doing the return leg (Bilinga to Broadbeach) will leave when their outbound partner arrives at Coolangatta. However there will be a mass start at the 2:30 mark (approx 0800 hrs) for the return competitors whose outbound partner has not arrived by that time. Race times will be adjusted accordingly.
The exact location of the Southern Exchange Point for the 2 x 25km relay is opposite 90 Pacific Parade, Bilinga/Tugan. Runners starting their leg here will head south first, to the Coolangatta turnaround point before turning and following the course back to Broadbeach (Pratten Park)
Return transport for 25km runners only and withdrawals
The majority of teams have their vehicle driven to the turnaround by the returning runner. The keys are then given to the outbound runner upon their arrival, who drives the vehicle back to the finish. We will have a drop box for car keys at the changeover point.
Athletes who drop out of the race must advise an official or an aid station captain of their withdrawal.
Competitors in the longer events are encouraged to carry their own supplies as the weather can be quite warm at this time of year, especially on the return leg. Full aid stations will be positioned at 3km intervals and will carry water, sports drink, Coca Cola, chopped banana and glucose type lollies.
Don’t forget you can use one of the many showers located along the beachfront to cool down or refill your bottles.
Beach Run participants (5km and kids) will also be able to take advantage of a drink station offering water located approximately every 1.5km on the course.
For cuts and abrasions the aid stations will carry First Aid kits. A qualified paramedic will be on hand to attend to anything more serious.
The race will be timed electronically and the results will be available at the results page on raceday. Race certificates will be available online and can be printed off at your leisure.
Solo 50 km, 30 km, 15 km & 5 km to first, second and third placed male and female. Two person relay trophies for first place male, female and mixed teams.
Please note: There will be no trophies for the kids events.
All finishers will receive a finisher medal for participating in the GC50 Run Festival.
